of the Repsol Honda Team
Repsol and Honda have had the most successful partnership in the Motorcycle World Championship for the past 25 years, participating in over 400 races and 14 World Championships, the latest one won by Marc Márquez at the end of 2018.
This combination has become a synonym for success and technological evolution, as evidenced by the close relationship between the Honda research center in Saitama (Japan) and the Repsol Technology Lab (Spain). For this season, about 6,000 liters of lubricants and about 40,000 liters of fuel were manufactured, custom-made for the Repsol Honda Team.
Top-level competition is a test bench of strategic importance for the company, which allows us to continue developing, under extreme conditions, the products we make available to our customers. In the words of our chairman, Antonio Brufau, “this partnership is a way to demonstrate that, each year, we are able to improve our gasoline and our lubricants, thanks to the collaboration of engineers and everyone involved with the team”.
The celebration coincides with the 50th anniversary of our sport sponsorship. In 1969, Repsol became the first company in Spain to display its logo in motor sports; in 1971, Ángel Nieto already sported an “R” on his motorcycle's fairing. He was followed by the World Rally Championships of Carlos Sainz, the Dakar Races of Nani Roma and Marc Coma, the 25 world titles won by Toni Bou, and the five MotoGP World Championships won by Marc Márquez.
